English for your visual arts career: training for groups and individuals
Group workshops and individual sessions tailored to develop the participant’s language skills and confidence in English, specifically for their career in the visual arts. The training is suited to visual artists and collectives; gallery, art centre and museum staff; curators and critics, alongside a diversity of other professions in the visual arts sector.
These professional English workshops cover a wide range of key spoken and written elements and topical vocabulary essential for working within an anglophone visual arts context. Each training programme is adapted to the specific needs and aims in English of the group or individual, and their schedule. The content can include topics such as English networking conversation; formal oral presentations; English specific to particular roles; in-situ exhibition and workplace discussions; arts administration and submissions in English; emails and written communication; texts for visual arts careers such as artist statements, biographies and CVs. This is supported by hands-on advice and a range of relevant resources and materials taken from the international art world.
The training is participatory and collaborative, and takes place entirely in English in order to maximise the benefits and create an immersive and supportive language learning environment.
